The Last Month or So...

Once again, I have found myself very far behind on the blogging.  Our wedding is in 20 days!! I cannot believe that it is finally almost here. It almost seems unreal that it can be this close but I am so incredibly excited! The last month and a half has been a whirlwind. I finally feel like I am all caught up on my wedding to-do list and things have really fallen into place.  We figured out all of the reception details, ordered the cake, received the bridesmaid dresses and shoes, and all of the other fun details that you will just have to wait and see.

I also got my dress a couple weeks ago! I was so worried that it was going to be extremely close to the wedding day before I got it.  I ordered it from Gateway Bridal in SLC and they said that the latest it would be in was October 27th. That would give me two weeks to pick it up, get it altered and fitted, and get our formal pictures taken.  I was freaking out.  But to my surprise it came in in early October! Yay! And let me tell you, I loved it even more when I tried it on again.  I already got it altered and fitted and it is hanging in my closet.  I was also worried about the bridesmaid dresses.  We ordered them from a site that makes them in Hong Kong. That means they had to be shipped all the way from China. I was so nervous that they wouldn't fit right even though we gave them specific measurements for each dress.  Those came in WAY early as well and I love them! We only have to do some slight altering for a couple of them.

A couple weekends ago, my parents were in Jackson with the Whitlocks so Jabin and I decided to head up there and spend Saturday night and Sunday with them.  We got to Jackson and walked around town for a bit then went to dinner with the parentals and Brett and Cathy.  They were camping at Teton Village so we headed up there and sat around the fire for a while just chatting and catching up.  Sunday morning we got a nice little surprise....Jill was going into labor!! My parents hurried and packed up and headed out so they could be there when she had the baby.  Jabin and I decided to enjoy the area for a little while before going back to Logan.  We drove up into Teton National Park a little ways and enjoyed the sites.

On October 4th, we had quite the scare.  Jabin had decided to take his motorcycle for one last ride before putting it away for the winter and before selling it in the Spring.  While on his ride, a dog ran out and started chasing him.  He hit the dog with his back tire and crashed his motorcycle.  He said he woke up laying on the ground not remembering how he got there at all.  The people who lived in that area all came out and helped him while the ambulance came.  He didn't call me until he was in the ER and after they had checked him out and made sure he was ok.  I had had a bad feeling all day and knew that I should call him, but I knew he was working and that he would call me when he was done.  That was one of the scariest calls and the longest drive to the hospital ever.  He didn't tell me what his injuries were so of course my mind was just going crazy thinking of all of the worst case scenarios.  I was very happy that he was the one who called me instead of his dad or one of the hospital workers.  I knew that was a good sign.

I got to the ER and walked into the room to find him laying on the bed with an IV, bloody face, bloody hands, and ripped up clothes.  I had tried to keep it together up until that point, but I lost it after that.  He told me that he broke his collarbone and just had some road rash.  The thing that hurt the worst was his fingers.  He had been wearing half-finger gloves so some of his finger nails had been dragged on the pavement when he went down.  He had some roadrash on his knees and shoulder.  He was wearing his helmet and it is definitely a good thing.  It is all scraped up and I am sure he would have been missing half of his face if he wasn't wearing it.  He was extremely lucky that it was not worse.  We went and talked to some of the people who witnessed it and were there.  One guy who was in a truck that coming the opposite direction on the road when he crashed said that they almost ran him over.

He ended up having surgery last Tuesday to fix his collarbone.  They put a plate and screws in the collarbone and he was able to move it as much as he wanted to right after the surgery.  He is only supposed to lift, push or pull 1 pound with that arm.  His scar is pretty nasty and way bigger than the doctor said it would be.  He is doing much better and has even been working this week.  I am just so happy that is was not any worse than it was.  It very easily could have been so much worse.  We are so blessed that is doing well and healing quickly.

The next 3 weeks are going to be so great.  We are doing our fomals next weekend, the weekend after that we are going to Billings for my endowment and then the next weekend is the wedding!! It is coming up so fast and we are so excited for all of it!  20 days!!! :)

Catch Up!

Wow! I have seriously been slacking on my posts.  Things have definitely been busy and crazy lately, and I love it! In the world of wedding planning, things are well on their way.  I still feel like I have so much to do, but I am trying to not get stressed. Even with all of this wedding stuff, we still find time to play!

In August, my mom and sister were down here for my cousins wedding so we took advantage of it and went dress shopping! Andy and Hillary joined us to the festivities and we all spent the weekend down in Salt Lake.  We had tried on dresses at a store in Logan and I found a few there that I really liked.  We went to two places in Salt Lake and I found a couple of dresses at each of those stores as well.  It was a lot harder to decide than I thought it would be.  I always thought that I would just find The One and I would know right away.  Not true.  Every dress I tried on, we liked.  None of them were bad or looked terrible.  I narrowed it down to 7 dresses, yeah that was the narrowed down number.  Luckily we had taken pictures of all of the dresses so we were able to put the pictures on Hillary's TV and sort through them all.  I then had it narrowed down to 3 dresses (one from each store, which was highly inconvenient).

After much deliberation and pondering, I finally made my decision.  I think I knew the whole time that it was the dress I would end up with, but I just wanted to make sure.  I honestly could have seen myself wearing any of the dresses on my wedding day, but this one was the best! A big factor in my decision was the atmosphere and personal feel at Gateway Bridal, which is where I got my dress.  I would recommend that place to anyone looking for their wedding dress.  I won't get my dress until the end of October (hopefully before though!) and then I still have to get it altered and fitted.

That was one of the biggest tasks that I needed to get done and I was so happy to get it ordered.  After that, we started looking for venues for the Logan reception.  We decided on Accolade at Hamilton's and I am so excited for it.  I have picked out bridesmaid dresses and will be ordering them this weekend.  We booked our honeymoon last week, too! I am working on figuring out flowers, cake, reception decoration, and all of that fun stuff!

While I have been trying to get as much wedding planning done as I can, we still have been having fun.  We have gotten to go boating a few times this summer thanks to some great friends.  We have been enjoying the pool and all of the summer activities.  Jabin also managed to get one of his jet skis to start running so we have been out at the lake several times after work this week.

Going to have fun at Bear Lake

This tube was crazy! It spins...so scary!

So much fun on this tube!
If you look closely, you can see us after our major wipeout. Jabin hit the water and then cartwheeled over the water while I was catching about 8 feet of air! So awesome.

The past month has been absolutely wonderful. I have loved being engaged and could not ask for anything more.  I hope to stay on top of my blogging, but no promises.

Best. Weekend. Ever.

Last weekend Jabin flew Andy, Hillary, and myself to Wyoming for a super fun weekend.  We left Friday, after a lot of  worrying that we would have to drive instead of fly if the weather didn't cooperate, and flew into Cody.  The flight was very smooth and way more scenic than the drive.  My parents, Jill, Christian and the boys were waiting at the airport when we landed.  We had planned to go to the Cody Night Rodeo, but we got in a little later than planned and had missed most of it.  We opted for some DQ instead and then headed to Powell.  The main reason we planned this trip was so Jabin could ask my dad for permission and blessing.  That night Jabin cornered my dad before he went to bed and got the big question out of the way.  He wouldn't tell me everything that happened, just that he said yes.  He was smiling an awful lot so I knew it went well (not that I was really worried about that anways).

Heart Mountain

Saturday we partied on the lake all day.  We got to the lake at about 11 or 11:30 and Jill and Christian brought their boat as well.  We headed out to the Causeway to check out the water and it ended up being amazing water! We played out there for quite a while.  Jason skiied and then Jabin wanted to attempt the slalom ski.  He had never gotten up before but had only tried it a couple times.  He got right up on the first time using Fatty McGee (the ski).  He was a natural! I then skiid and Hillary skiied behind Jill's boat. Dad skiied on Fatty as well. Andy and Hill both wakeboarded and Christian and Jabin kneeboarded.  We were all enjoying the beautiful water and hot weather.  We stopped for lunch before heading towards the dock to see if our friends the Whitlocks were here yet.  On our way we spotted them towing in our other friends' boat that was having some issues.  We decided to  head up the canyon so Andy, Hill and Jabin could see that.  We went all the way to Barry's Landing and stopped for a short break. On our way back we came upon a HUGE river taxi boat that had broken down.  We offered to tow them back in to the dock and everyone but my parents and Jabin and I jumped in Jill and Christian's boat so the boat wouldn't be as heavy.

Got a li'l Cap'n in ya?

Everyone loves fried chicken on the boat :)

First time in Montana

We slowly made our way back to dock and enjoyed the scenery, sunshine, and even took a little nap.  It was so much fun that day.  Boating is seriously my favorite thing to do.  I could go boating everyday.  It is even better when you are surrounded by friends and family.  The four of us headed back to Powell before everyone else because we were planning on going to the Fair that night.  We got home and decided to not hit up the fair but to go eat instead.  We hurried and changed and made it to El Tapatio before they closed.  After dinner is when the "big event" happened.  I already told that story in my last post so I won't retell it.  I will say that it is still my favorite night and memory!! :)

Sunday, we slept in and had yummy breakfast.  We had a big bbq that afternoon with Jill and Christian and my grandparents.  The weather was looking bad and it was looking even worse in Logan, so we decided to leave earlier than we had originally planned.  We left Cody around 3:30.  We had to dodge some storms on the flight, but it was actually very smooth and went by very fast (at least for the passengers, maybe not the pilot).  We landed in Logan just in time because a HUGE storm came through the valley right after.

This weekend was the best weekend ever.  I couldn't imagined it being anymore perfect.  I got to go boating and skiing with my family and friends.  I got engaged to the man I love more than anything and I got to share that exciting time with my family.
